Accessibility
As accessible as possible to everyone
Everyone is welcome at Huis Bergh
Huis Bergh is a historic castle, with staircases, old floors, and narrow passageways. Nevertheless, we do everything we can to make the visit accessible to as many people as possible.
Accessibility of the castle
In recent years, much attention has been paid to improving the accessibility of the castle. Various measures have been taken to ensure the visit is as comfortable as possible.
All exhibition spaces are accessible by elevator. The only exception to this is the keep; unfortunately, due to its historical construction, it is not accessible by elevator.
The outer bailey and the Castle Café Heeren Dubbel are also accessible. There is a disabled toilet in Huis Bergh and in Castle Café Heeren Dubbel.
Parking
- There are two disabled parking spaces close to the castle entrance.
- The route from the parking lot to the castle is partly paved but also contains cobblestones.
- Wheelchairs are available upon request.
Visit with assistance dog or attendant
- Assistance dogs are of course welcome
- Attendants may enter for free
- Staff are happy to help open doors or assist with stairs (upon request)
For visitors with a visual or auditory impairment
- There are information panels with clear, high-contrast typography
- Guided tours can be conducted in an adapted format (e.g., slower pace, smaller group)
- An audio tour is available via your own phone (bringing headphones is recommended)
- There are currently no special facilities for blind or deaf visitors, but customization is possible upon request
